My car (aka LaFawnduh) got broken into in the middle of the night...IN MY GARAGE!!! The low-life cretins took our lawnmower, our weed wacker, a few other yard tools, and the axe that they used to break my window to get into my car. The dumbshits ransacked my car and took my crappy headphones I use for the gym and my cd's. I hope the idiots are enjoying my mix cd's and weed wacker...

Miami Beach
Jake and I just got back on Sunday from Miami Beach, FL. Jake had an Anesthesia Conference to attend, and I had some beach time to attend to. We stayed at The Alexander Hotel. The hotel was a great location right on the the beach, but the interior was straight out of Miami Vice. We're talking mirrored walls, faux marble, bad wallpaper, and a bidet! The last place we stayed was straight out of the Golden Girls....hmmm...whats up wih all the bad 80's Florida decor? It would have been kind of funny except that it cost about $400/nt.
Jake and I spent a lot of time on the beach (if you have never been to Miami the water is fantastic. It is warm with just the right amount of surf and plenty of clean, soft sand). We hit South Beach and Ocean Drive for shoppig and eating, and did yet more shopping and eating at Lincoln Road Mall, which is a must if you like to shop and eat, which clearly Jake and I do!
I also dragged Jake to the Coral Castle in Homestead FL, which was pure torture for him. I on the other hand love cheesy, touristy stuff. Miami is fantastic, there is so much to do and see and its very multicultural. You almost forget you are in the US. Also, there are very few places in the world that you can shop (and did I mention eat??)until 1 a.m, which is pretty much heaven on earth for me....Pictures below....
The swanky mirrored mini bar.
A view from the balcony of the pool area.
A view of the beach, also from the balcony.
The hotel from the beach
Jake on the beach
A view of the Coral Castle (less a castle and more of a fort.
Me at the big coral dinner table.
The bedrooom, see the beds? And the bathtub in the corner?
A sign at the entrance.

Rocky Point Mexico
Jake and I headed down for what is most likely our last visit to Tucson, AZ since my brother and sister-in-law are moving out of Tucson back to Utah. While there we (me, Jake, Big Mama, brother, sil, neice, nephew) headed down to Puerto Penasco (aka Rocky Point) Mexico for a mini vacation. We stayed for 3 nights in a lovely suite at the Las Palomas Golf Club and Resort.
The resort is great, right on the beach, with a huge pool area. The suite was nice, but the decor was a little dated...it looked like a set from "The Golden Girls" lots of glass table tops and cane furniture. Unfortunately, the weather Gods were not with us as the second day was super windy and freezing cold. There was no pool or beach time that day. Luckily we were able to get in quality beach time the first day. Although much of our time was spent inside our suite, it was still a fun time. Jake and I will miss AZ!!! Hopefully we'll find a reason to go back....

The master bedroom. Just a small sampling of the tacky decor
A view of the beach. That's Jake way out there!
One of the buildings with part of its wall blown off--yes, the winds were that strong. Huge pieces of the wall blew into the resort gym, shattering the gym's glass walls.
A shot of the dust storm at Rocky Point, sand was everywhere!
Part of the family, "Big Mama," me, Jake, and Kylee.
My brother Lam and my beautiful niece Kylee.
